Education is very important...

Be it famous mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, or Steve Jobs, or even actress Meenakshi Sheshadri who completed her Masters in English literature after a long hiatus, inspirational success stories are all around us. The quest for education is never ending, no doubt. But, picking up from where you’ve left is easier said than done. Nevertheless, it never stopped some of the world’s bigwigs from chasing their dreams. Steven Spielberg, Azim Premji and Bill Gates are some illustrious men who completed their graduation in their 40s and 50s. Following in their footsteps are Hyderabadis who affirm the fact that it’s never too late to realise your dreams. Age has never been a daunting factor where education is concerned. In 2002, thirty-five years after discontinuing college, Steven Spielberg completed his graduation via independent projects at California State University, Long Beach, and was awarded a B.A. in Film Production and Electronic Arts. At the age of 54, Azim Premji, after a gap of 30 long years, got his graduation degree. But people like him are a rarity. Captain Rajesh from Bolarum, who started off as an army jawan asserts, “Obviously, I completed my degree very late and then attended army exams too. Education is important. It doesn’t matter in which field you are. I always hold my head high, as I’ve done what very few people dare to do.” Roman Abramovich, the richest Russian, would’ve agreed with him. He dropped out to join business and years later earned a correspondence degree from Moscow state law academy!

Shirdi on hit list of terrorists - Economic Times Report

• KOPARGAON: After the bomb blasts in Malegaon and Hyderabad, terrorists have put religious places like Shirdi and Trimbakeshwar in Ahmednagar and Nasik districts in Maharashtra on their hit list, police said today. Special IG (Nasik range) PK Jain told reporters at Shirdi that a report to this effect was given by a central intelligence agency. He said there is a fear that Hindu festivals like Navratri and Diwali would be targeted by terrorists to create unrest in Shirdi and Trimbakeshwar.

Note: All those who are planning a Shirdi/Trimbakeshwar be careful and report any suspicious activity to the police.

Can you imagine this happening in INDIA?

Government of India has an online Grievance forum at http://darpg-grievance.nic.in/ The government wants people to use this tool to highlight the problems they faced while dealing with Government officials or departments like Passport Office, Electricity board, BSNL/MTNL, Railways etc etc. I know many people will say that these things don't work in India, but this actually works as one of our colleague in CSC found. The guy I'm talking about lives in Faridabad. Couple of months back, the Faridabad Municipal Corporation laid new roads in his area and the residents were very happy about it. But 2 weeks later, BSNL dugged up the newly laid roads to install new cables which annoyed all the residents including this guy. But it was only this guy! Who used the above listed grievance forum to highlight his concern. And to his surprise, BSNL and Municipal Corporation of faridabad was served a show cause notice and the guy received a copy of the notice in one week. Government has asked the MC and BSNL about the goof up as it's clear that both the government departments were not in sync at all. So use this grievance forum and educate others who don't know about this facility. This way we can at least raise our concerns instead of just talking about the ' System' in India. Invite your friends to contribute for many such happenings. Educate our frnds ..Let us see New India ...Soon
